Twelve men showed up to push through a tough 60-minute workout in the rain this morning, including a visitor from F3 Tallahassee.
Outside of some light rain, the elements were perfect for embracing the suck together. At the end of every F3 workout, the men circle up for the COT (Circle of Trust), where the Q (man who is leading) shares an encouraging word. As I was planning this morning’s workout and reflecting on the past few weeks, what came to mind was this idea of “Say You’re About It - Be About It.” Here it is.

We talk a lot in F3 about this idea of the “High Impact Man” or HIM. I have found that two things are true when it comes to this:
Not everyone that comes to an F3 workout is a HIM
Every man is capable of being a HIM
The HIM isn’t just about what he does or says, it’s about who he is. We strive to be men of impact in our families, workplaces, communities, and spheres of influence. So, if we’re going to say that we (as F3 men) are about this High Impact Manhood thing, let’s be about it. I was guided towards a passage of Scripture where Paul is writing to Titus - focusing on sound teaching and Christian living.
Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.
Titus 2:2
Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Titus 2:6-8
This stood out to me because while High Impact Men are not all Christians and all Christians (men) are not High Impact Men, I love how Paul lays out these Biblical principles that apply to both. Notice that he also specifically calls out both older men and younger men. One of the things I have come to love about F3 the most is that it is a multi-generational community of men. I started with F3 in my early 20s and have loved working out with guys that are younger and older than me. Paul is encouraging Titus to teach the older men to be:
Sober-minded
Dignified
Self-controlled
Sound in faith, love, and steadfastness
In the MSG version — lives of temperance, dignity, wisdom, healthy faith, love, and endurance.
In the same way, he shares that Titus is to encourage the younger men to live wisely. He then reminds him to be lead by example — “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.”
How does this relate to F3?
We’re here to challenge and encourage each other, work hard, and push each other to be better men for ourselves, our families, our friends, and our spheres of influence.
My hope is that when you show up to an F3 workout (wherever that might be), you are challenged and encouraged in your Fitness Fellowship and Faith. Just as Paul encouraged Titus in leading by example in speech, conduct, and work - we should do the same thing with each other.
Our environment and surroundings should not dictate or character, conduct, and discipline, or the ability to work hard.
The same methodology applies to the mission of F3: to plant grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership. If we say that we’re about that mission - let’s be about that mission.
If we say we’re about this life of High Impact Manhood - let’s be about it. Our wives, families, friends, and communities we are a part of need us to be. Be challenged and encouraged that you have it what it takes to be the HIM you were called to be - with the guidance of God and the help of each other. Get after it brother. Iron Sharpens Iron!
